In Space Sweepers by Hongjacga (translated by Kristianna Lee and Mina Son, lettering by Trisha Yucamco), the crew of the Victory is pitted against the interests of the sinister UTS corporation. Can they survive the capitalist hellscape?
Set in the 2090s, Hongjacga’s ongoing Space Sweepers adaptation is based on the Netflix movie of the same name. If you’ve already streamed the movie, then the characters and ships featured in this comic will already be familiar to you.
In 2015, Hongjacga was commissioned for the Star Wars adaptation, which was available on Webtoon in the United States (although it has since been taken down). Do note, however, that just like the Star Wars adaptation, the Space Sweepers adaptation gives him the space to expand the narrative and add extra scenes.
The Space Sweepers webcomic takes full advantage of this opportunity for expansion, giving readers a much more extensive glimpse at how the crew of the Victory came together (not to mention what they were doing shortly before they became a team). If you can’t get enough of the irresistible crew of characters – and we really can’t blame you if that’s the case – then this webcomic will provide the perfect antidote to what ails you.
New episodes of the comic are released on Mondays, and all but the most recent 8 entries are available to read for free.
If you enjoy the Space Sweepers webcomic adaptation on Tapas, you’ll also want to be sure and watch the movie, which is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
